Where used in this policy, the term "participating outlet" means any pub or bar that has a profile page on the Website.

This website is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

It is important that you read this privacy policy (together with any other privacy policy or fair processing notice we may provide on specific occasions) when we are collecting or processing personal data about you so that you are fully aware of how and why we are using your data. This privacy policy supplements other notices and privacy policies and is not intended to override them.

1. What information do we collect from you?

We will collect and process the following data about you:

  • information that you give us by filling in forms on our Websites or by corresponding with us by phone, e-mail or otherwise. It includes information you provide when you register to use our Websites, subscribe to our services, search for bars, pubs and restaurants, post content, participate in discussion boards or other social media functions on our site, enter a competition, promotion or survey, and when you report a problem with our site.   • where you register to use the Website, your details will appear on the "people" page of useyourlocal.com. This will allow outlets and other users to see your profile page and all activity published by you through the Website, including but not limited to your name, profile photo and the pubs and bars that you "follow", and lists of pubs created by you;
  • to allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so;
  • as part of our efforts to keep our site safe and secure;
  • to provide you with information about other goods and services we offer that are similar to those that you have already purchased or enquired about;
  • to directly contact you with messages from us and our selected third parties, including marketing and advertising businesses, affiliates and associates with information about goods or services that may interest you. Contact may be by, SMS and email, or via the Website and through smart technology (for example beacons). For example, we might allow a drinks brand to contact users in Birmingham with details of a promotion being run by them. This message would be sent by us on their behalf.   • to ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you.

  • To share information with our business partners (for example our participating outlets and retailers/brands, analytics and search engine providers, and advertisers and advertising networks that require the data to select and serve relevant adverts to you and others. We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to these third parties, but we will provide them with aggregate information about our users (for example, if a drinks brand runs a promotion through our service, we may inform them and other third parties and participating outlets that 500 men aged under 30 have clicked on their advertisement, and/or that 200 of these men redeemed a voucher for that promotion on any given day). We may also use such aggregate information to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target (for example, in the example given above we might tell these third parties that of the 200 men who redeemed the voucher, the participating outlets in which the voucher was redeemed, and other characteristics of the individuals (for example 25% of them lived in the postcode NE1). We may make use of the personal data we have collected from you to enable us to comply with our advertisers' wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience;
  • Please note that by submitting reviews regarding the website, service and/or participating outlets, you consent to us using such reviews on our website, partner websites, and with all other third parties (such as brand owners, marketers and advertisers) and in any marketing or advertising materials. 3. Only processing the personal data that we need to

Your personal data will only be processed to the extent that it is necessary for the specific purposes we tell you about.

4. Where we store your personal data

We will not transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area ("EEA") unless such transfer is compliant with the GDPR. This means that we cannot transfer any of your personal data outside the EEA unless:

  • The EU Commission has decided that another country or international organisation ensures an adequate level of protection for your personal data; or
  • The transfer of your personal data is subject to appropriate safeguards, which may include:

However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we may choose not to comply with your request in these circumstances.

We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that your personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. We may also ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response.

We seek to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. From time to time, it may take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. If this is the case, we will notify you and keep you updated.

  • It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and up-to-date. If any of your personal data changes during your relationship with us, please let us know as soon as possible. You can update this on your online account at www.useyourlocal.com. We will take every reasonable step to erase or rectify inaccurate data without delay. We may contact you from time to time to check your details are still up-to-date. We will also contact you if we become aware of any event which is likely to result in a change to your personal data.
  • Our site may, from time to time, contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, advertisers and affiliates. 6. Data retention

7. How we keep your data secure

  • We will ensure that appropriate measures are taken against unlawful or unauthorised processing of personal data, and against the accidental loss of, or damage to, personal data.
